In 2018, I had an epiphany. After spending ten years in the corporate Wellness and disease management worlds and another 18 years in health insurance, something happened that made me look deeper.
While doing my deep dive, I came across a concept that was incredibly foreign to me. In the Wellness and disease management worlds, you are never confronted with the knowledge that people heal from chronic conditions. We are taught that there are lifelong progressive conditions that will continue to require more medication over time and typically result in more significant weight gain.
When you look at the nutrition literature, you see dogma and bias. This will take more to unpack than I am addressing in this post. Stay tuned. I will update this with a link to a future post.
So, not only are the Nutrition Guidelines a shamble, but our Treatment Guidelines are also completely inadequate. If your doctor writes a single prescription or treatment without first mentioning the following:
“Almost of our chronic problems stem from several lifestyle problems. Including but not limited to:
· Diet · Poor Sleep · Lack of sun exposure · Poor stress management techniques · Excessive blue light from your light bulbs, T.V.s, computers, phones, and other nonnative EMFs.
You may need to work on a few, if not all, of these, but if you do, a lifetime of disease management and prescriptions don’t have to be in your future. So the course is yours to make.”
Then you need a new doctor.
The knowledge that healing is an option must be trumpeted and not hidden from people.
Is there still a place for medications and treatments? Yes, absolutely. But if they occur without the above conversation first, I believe that is the definition of malpractice.
Most doctors and dietitians don’t currently have the training and resources to implement this. However, considering that millions of ordinary people found success going outside the healthcare world to figure it out independently, it won’t take more than a couple dozen hours of education for the professionals to catch up.
If your doctor still needs to offer the above conversation, you can take action and learn about the realities of both metabolisms. Learn how leveraging Nutritional Ketosis can help you heal.
Those in the healthcare and coaching professions who understand this are taking action. We don't want to see another damaged generation subjected to these failed guidelines, so grassroots organizations are popping up to meet the challenge.
In other blogs, you can read about how the American Diabetes Society, Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners, and Metabolic Revolution are working to raise awareness that guidelines must promote healing, not disease management.
Listen to Dr. Tro discuss our sick population and how he is personally bringing healing to his patients.
I hope you choose healing.
